Serbia is a country in Southeast Europe, located in the center of the Balkan Peninsula. It provides a blend of urban buildings and natural wilderness that abounds in protected areas, lakes, viewpoints as well as canyons, gorges and caves which are the result of mountain relief.<\/p>\n

Our natural wealth is reflected in national parks that extend from the Danube to the Sava River, regarded not only for the natural but also for the historical and cultural richness.<\/p>\n

Fruska Gora<\/strong>, the former island of the Pannonian Sea, is composed of meadows, lakes, settlements and dense forests. Due to the fertile soil, its vast areas consist not only of forests but also vineyards, orchards and pastures.<\/p>\n

The Djerdap gorge<\/strong>is the longest breakthrough gorge type in Europe, consisting of four gorges and three basins. Along an area of 636 km2, there are more than 1,000 caves, the medieval fortress Golubac, famous Trajan’s column and archaeological site Lepenski Vir which make this area geographically and historically significant<\/p>\n

The Kopaonik National Park<\/strong>, a developed tourist place and the most famous ski center in Serbia is under snow for more than 160 days, most of which are sunny, which is why it is often called ”The sunny mountain”. Forests of spruce, maple trees, beech trees, as well as various types of rare and protected animals and plants represent its greatest wealth.<\/p>\n

Tara National Park<\/strong>\u00a0is a world-renowned park due to its unique landscapes that can be seen from the bird’s eye view – from the viewpoints Crnjeskovo, Biljeska rock, Oslusa, Sjenic and Banjska rock overlooking the emerald Lake Perucac, the Drina canyon and its meadows, mountains and forests.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Belonging to the separate massif the Dinaric Alps, there is another national park –\u00a0Sharr Mountains<\/strong>\u00a0, which makes one of the most important biodiversity protected areas in the Central Balkans. At the same time, the cultural and historical heritage of the Sharr mountains is of great importance for the Serbian people and its identity due to 34 medieval monasteries, churches, settlements and fortifications, as evidenced by the fact that they have become a candidate of the UNESCO World Heritage and Cultural Heritage Program.<\/p>\n

One of the last European deserts\u00a0Deliblato Sands<\/strong>covers an area of 35,000 hectares in the southeastern part of the Pannonian Plain in Vojvodina. The vast area of an elliptical shape, known for the most diverse flora and fauna and dune-like relief was created by the power of the wind that brought sand so it actually looks like an African landscape<\/p>\n

Another of the special features of Serbia can be found in the parts of nature under the protection of the state –\u00a0Kovilj-Petrovaradin Marshes<\/strong>is a region of numerous islands, swamps and distributaries.<\/p>\n

Also, the natural phenomenon of ”Devil’s Town<\/strong>” on Radan Mountain in the south of the country is often referred to as the mystical scene that consists of 202 stone formations 2 to 15 meters high, located in gullies and divided by a watershed. This rare phenomenon was taken as the best European candidate for the Seven World Wonders of Nature, and about 15 years earlier, in 1995, it was placed in the first category of protection as a natural monument of great importance.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

In addition to its unique nature, Serbia is characterized by a rich history that left behind many buildings. Considering the fact that there were luxurious imperial cities and palaces in this region during the Roman Empire and the early Byzantium, their remains can still be seen in the Emperor’s city, Gamzigrad, and Sirmium.<\/p>\n

One of the fortresses is\u00a0Smederevo war fortress<\/strong>One of the fortresses is Smederevo war fortress , divided into the Large Town under the ruins and the Small Town, subsequently restored. Being used for military purposes by the mid 19th century, it has preserved the remains of the time of the two peoples – Serbs and Turks.<\/p>\n

Ram Fortress<\/strong>, mentioned in the records of a Turkish 17th-century travel writer, was built on the right bank of the Danube on a rock serving as a military-artillery fort. There are the remains of a mosque in its central part.<\/p>\n

The medieval town of Maglic<\/strong>\u00a0– made of walls, with seven massive towers of an irregularly elongated multiangular shape, rises from a rocky ridge. The remains of the St. George church and the palace are preserved within the city, and today this ancient building represents the place for different events and sightseeing tours.<\/p>\n

The mentioned combination of modern buildings, modern architecture, castles, palaces and similar legacies together with nature, mountain ranges and plains makes Serbia a country of unique landscapes with plenty of locations, logistically accessible within a few hours’ drive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
