Series “Crown Street 11”

The TV series Crown Street 11 is set in a courtyard in Belgrade that becomes the epicenter of events during the global coronavirus pandemic. The building’s residents face an unexpected curfew and quarantine that disrupt their daily lives and plans. The series explores their varied reactions to the new situation, ranging from enthusiasm and resourcefulness to frustration and conflict. In this crisis, while some couples decide to part ways, many find new love. Through humorous, emotional, and dramatic moments, the residents of Crown Street 11 collectively discover how lives and relationships shift under the pressure of crisis circumstances, as each finds a way to adapt to the new reality and build connections that will define them as a community.

Dejan Zecevic is a Serbian film and television director. He was born on February 1, 1972. He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in 1997, Department of Film and TV Directing.

So far, as a director, he has signed four feature films (of which he wrote a screenplay for two and a co-writer for one). His films have won over 30 awards at domestic film festivals. March Short Film Festival Award; Aleksandar Sasa Petrovic for the best film at the Author’s Film Festival; Golden Mimosa for the best director at the festival in Herceg Novi;

Golden Arena for Best Film and Golden Arena for Best Director in Novi Sad; FIPRESSCI Award for Director of the Year. He also participated in foreign festivals with his films (Brussels, Luxembourg, Sitges, Athens, Jerusalem, Alexandria, Toulouse, Kyiv, Pucon …).

He teaches film directing at the private film school Dunav film. He has been working a lot on commercials and television shows lately.

Kosta Djordjevic is award winning Serbian writer and director. He graduated from Faculty of Dramatic arts in Belgrade in 2007. His short films took part in numerous festivals (Locarno IFF/Padri di domani, Kustendrof, Hyperion etc.)
In 2013 he directed and co- written his 1st feature film “Trolling”. It had national cinema release in Serbia and took part in film festivals across Europe (Warsaw film festival, Motovun, CInema city, Montenegro film festival).

He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, with a focus on film and TV directing. He made his debut in 1983 with the film *Stepenice za nebo*. Significant works include *Dogodilo se na današnji dan* (1987), *Bolje od bekstva* (1993), *Povratak lopova* (1998), and *Nož* (1999). He has also directed series such as *Gore dole*, *Otvorena vrata*, *Pozorište u kući*, and *Senke nad Balkanom*. Since 2007, he has been actively working on high-viewership series.

We meet the residents of the Crown Street 11 in their everyday lives and charming surroundings, yet completely unprepared for the storm that is coming and will change their lives. Flights will be canceled, cities blocked, businesses closed, and long-distance relationships will become even more distant. The corona has arrived at the Crown Street 11.

Panic about the corona is escalating, and the residents of the Crown Street 11 must adjust to a new reality. Dmitar introduces special measures for the “safety” of all residents, with Milina’s full support. Petar and Mina become roommates. While Lale panics in fear of the virus, Mira successfully adds fuel to the fire. Nevertheless, Maja and Zika show us that the generational gap is not an obstacle to resistance.

As Lola’s feelings for Boris grow, Zika offers him help. After Mira scares him, Lale comes up with a brilliant idea to neutralize the corona, which involves a microwave oven. The firefighters rise to the occasion, but it’s not just the corona that is neutralized. Mina and Petar learn more about each other, while Zika once again lends a helping hand.

Jagoda and Visnja are furious that Petar can’t travel to Frankfurt for the wedding, much to the delight of Petar’s mother Kristina. The Lakota family refuses to accept that Mina has left Lakota, so Lakota prepares to travel to Belgrade. Lola, in an effort to help Boris, delves into criminal activities. Fleeing from the police in the rain, they find themselves in Petar and Mina’s apartment. Four people in their underwear, in an apartment in the middle of the night… drying clothes is not the first thing on Milina’s mind, and then there’s Dmitar.

Zika is on a video call with his son Sava, persuading him to return to Serbia. Milina’s imagination creates a love triangle between Petar, Mina, and Lola, and it’s an understatement to say that Jagoda can’t handle it. Zika, who has a son in America, meets Emilija, who has a daughter in Canada… Lakota uses his connections to arrive in Belgrade and shows up at Mina’s doorstep.

Igor’s business plan succeeds and the business flourishes, while Lola and Boris enter a crisis.

Petar accidentally falls asleep in Mina’s bed. Lale’s corona tests become a serious blow to the household budget. With little Igor’s offer to help, his business comes to light. Jagoda manages to find Petar but under circumstances she won’t like. Petar and Mina’s apartment becomes the scene of a serious conflict. After Lola’s plan for Lakota succeeds, she prepares another, this time for Boris.

Lola’s plan gives Petar a new idea, which works so well it drives Visnja to madness, and Milina resorts to the ultimate means of destroying the corona. However, her medicine turns against her. Lola’s fake boyfriend makes a fatal mistake when, drunk and in the middle of the night, he knocks on the wrong door. Kristina, annoyed with Jagoda, opens a bottle of wine, and Petar and Mina join her. The morning will dawn differently. A couple of thousand kilometers away, Visnja enjoys her wine with a wealthy hotel owner from Turkey. Lakota and Jelena sip their drinks at the Ovidije cafe. Kristina feels a bit depressed while Petar leaves Crown Street 11 with his suitcases.

Petar’s journey to the airport turns into a small adventure. Boris receives an unexpected phone call. Visnja’s and Lakota’s plan is set in motion while Emilija, Zika, and Maja await important guests. The celebration comes to an end as evening falls on Crown Street 11.

Everyone is excited about their arrival except for Milina and Dmitar, who take extraordinary measures. Visnja and Lakota grow closer, making it the perfect moment for Jagoda’s motherly advice.

The Americans, Max and Ketrin, sneak into the lives of the tenants, engaging some of them to film their documentary about Serbia. Dmitar doubts their intentions, and Catherine will feel this the most. Lale is in a panic over a super-cell storm heading for Belgrade. Fortunately, Dr. Olujic intervenes just in time. A mysterious person appears at Crown Street 11.

Dmitar and Milina successfully identify the mysterious person sitting at Ovidiu, but another one immediately appears. This newcomer is from Russia and carries a bag full of books. Is Crown Street 11 becoming a center for foreign agents? Visnja goes missing, and Lale panics over a new epidemic. Dr. Olujic is unavailable, so Dmitar assigns Julija a new task since she understands molecules.

Turkish Mestan is becoming increasingly suspicious, and his nighttime visits to Crown Street 11 do not go unnoticed by Dmitar and Milina. Explosions echo throughout Belgrade, but Milina has an idea of who might be responsible. Some tenants fear a World War III, and while Julija schedules a job interview, Visnja decides to come out of hiding.

The crisis team convenes in Montenegro while Visnja spends time with Mestan. Emilija and Zika fall under Dmitar’s influence, leaving Lola and Boris in disbelief. A defaced American flag on Ketrin’s door threatens to become an international incident. Jagoda arrives at Crown Street 11, and Lale is once again watching the news. The forecasts are not good.

Milina succumbs to Jagoda’s pressure and reveals Visnja’s location. However, Jagoda isn’t the only one who will meet Mestan, as Lakota arrives at the hotel with his blind passenger. Mina receives a gift from a distant land. Ketrin and Max are filming their documentary on the streets of Belgrade while trying to answer the question, “What are Serbs like?”

Natasa receives sad news, while Julia receives good news at the same moment. Both Mina and Petar bring good news that leads to a celebration in Ovidije. Lola and Boris are facing love problems. Natasa recognizes someone from her youth. Joko seems to be losing the battle for Jagoda, who is experiencing all the charms of life in Mestan’s hotel. Vladimir plans to meet his father.

Visnja and Jagoda are enjoying the hotel while Lola and Boris prepare for their trip. Natasa will take over the care of Ovidije, facing great challenges ahead. Igor is causing problems, and Maja and Djordje feel the consequences. Dmitar implements emergency measures. Vladimir meets with a man he believes is his father. Lakota struggles with his “shadow” while Mina hesitates with her book.

Lakota’s shadow, Ugljesa, is there to help Jelena understand certain things. Mina and Petar are at a crossroads when news arrives from Dubai. Boris and Lola make a significant decision: Ovidije is for sale. Lale will conduct the auction, and the number of competitors is surprising. Vladimir shows his affection for Ketrin, who, along with Max, embarks on a spy mission.

Milina feels neglected and insists on being involved in the auction process. The list of competitors keeps growing, and Ugljesa and Jelena can’t handle the pressure, which culminates at one point. Mina and Petar arrive in Arandjelovac, where Lola and Boris follow the auction results over the phone, and the outcome is surprising for many.

The auction ends in an unusual way, and now a mystery is circulating among the residents of Crown Street 11. Jagoda visits Milina and has something to say about the auction results. The clashes between Ugljesa and Jelena are no longer concerned with time or place. The gloves are off. And while the sign with the name of the cafe is being changed, Petar is preparing for his trip, and Zorz appears at Crown Street.

Jagoda clashes with Milina over the cafe, which wasn’t given to Visnja and Mestan, causing unrest in the building. Milina offers a swap in the yard, which Visnja and Mestan like, and they plan to open a joint boutique. Meanwhile, Max falls in love with an opera star and invites the tenants to the opera, while Visnja is setting up her new boutique with Mestan’s help. Lale prepares to sell Boris and Lola’s apartment to Mestan.

An American, Justus Reid, comes to the cafe and quickly starts drinking, praising Serbia as the best country in the world, which excites everyone present, while Max and Ketrin film the moment. Jagoda becomes jealous of Visnja’s new boutique assistant, Pepa, as she feels neglected. Ketrin struggles with a fever, and everyone is in a panic about finding the right outfit for the opera. Zivojin is bothered by Julija moving to Boston, while Lakota still can’t explain to Jelena why Ugljesa is following them.

Lakota comes to buy a dress for Jelena and encounters Ugljesa. Everyone in the boutique is enjoying the luxurious clothing while preparing for the opera, and Visnja organizes a fashion show. Ketrin feels unwell and Vladimir comes to take care of her. While everyone is at the opera, Ketrin realizes how much attention Vladimir is giving her, creating a special moment between the two of them.

Vladimir sits with his father in the cafe and introduces him to Ketrin. Ketrin and Vladimir decide to go to Russia, while the tenants organize a farewell evening. During the dinner, Ketrin shows a film about Serbia, revealing emotional and funny moments from Crown Street 11, which delights everyone. The women are especially pleased with the luxury toilets they wore to the opera and decide to keep them, despite the men’s objections.

Ugljesa enjoys the boutique, trying on provocative dresses, which surprises Lakota. The men in the building panic because their wives have disappeared. Meanwhile, Lale discovers that the money from the stash is gone, and Dmitar realizes that his entire paycheck has been spent. However, the women are having fun in Skadarlija, singing, dancing, and drinking. While the men despair over the missing wives and the missing money, they learn from Natasha that the women went to Skadarlija. Meanwhile, Jagoda calls Joko, her Montenegrin from Kotor, asking him to come to Jagodina.

When the women return from their night out, the husbands, angry about their disappearance, decide to sleep separately. With the help of Maja and Djordje, who come up with a reconciliation plan, everyone makes up. In the meantime, Joko arrives, ready to surprise Jagoda and win her over again. Six months later, Lazar and Natasha serve domestic products in their cafe that Boris sends from Arandjelovac.

Zivojin is excited about Djordje’s first match, but he’s frustrated because he can’t find his water polo cap. Visnja welcomes Mestan back from his trip, prepares a meal for him, and develops her online shop. Tara and Igor are choosing what to wear for prom night, while Milina informs Jagoda that she and Dmitar are coming to visit her. Mile and Cole, local gamblers, break into the cafe, and when they don’t find any money, they steal gin and whiskey. Lale sees them, but they convince him to help them carry the stolen boxes of drinks.

Lazar discovers that his cafe has been robbed, and only then does Lale realize that he helped the thieves collect the loot. Ketrin and Vladimir report that they are enjoying their time in Russia. Ugljesa goes to Lakota with invitations for their wedding, claiming it’s a deal with the Mucibabic family. In Crown Street 11, Djordje’s victorious evening and Boris’s son’s birth are being celebrated.

Ugljesa locks Lakota in a hotel room and sends photos from the wedding to Jelena. Jelena and Visnja, realizing that Lakota has been in a relationship with Ugljesa for a while, decide to get revenge. As the situation turns chaotic, Velinka arrives on the scene, and Joko and Jagoda come to help, while Mestan tries to stop Visnja from getting into danger. Mina has given birth, and Petar arrives in Arandjelovac, once again with the help of the taxi driver Jovan, with whom he arranges to have Jovan christen Petar’s child.

A grand celebration for the birth of Petar’s child is held at the house in Arandjelovac, where everyone from Crown Street 11 has gathered. Mestan proposes to Visnja and she agrees to marry him. Petar and Boris bring their babies, and together with Lola and Mina, they arrive at the house in Arandjelovac. In Crown Street 11, everyone is happy, celebrating the birth of two babies thanks to the love stories from this building. Ketrin and Vladimir return from Russia, and everyone rejoices, realizing that their “rose” has bloomed in Crown Street 11.

On the surface, everything seems the same in Crown Street 11, but much has changed: Petar and Mina now live in Dubai with their baby, Ketrin and Vladimir have married and decided to stay in Serbia, Boris and Lola returned from Arandjelovac with their baby to Belgrade, while Lazar and Natasa moved to Canada. Julija has returned from Boston, and Visnja has run away from the wedding. Zika and Dmitar opened a delicatessen with Lakota… and then, unexpectedly, lawyer Varajic appears, offering the tenants higher prices than the market value to buy their apartments in Crown Street 11.

The homeowners’ council meets, with one agenda item: Who wants to sell their apartment to lawyer Varajic and his mysterious investor, and who doesn’t. Some want to sell, some don’t, and some are hiding it, like Lale, who has decided to keep it a secret from his wife. Jagoda encourages Visnja to sell her apartment. Dzelatovic returns from Paris and convinces the tenants to sell their apartments, promising to sell his two as well, since this is a great opportunity for profit. While some believe Dzelatovic, others don’t trust him, leading to a war in the building between the two factions.

Milina suspects that the apartment sale scheme is actually Lakota’s doing, but Dmitar reassures her, claiming it can’t be him. Vladimir desperately wants a child with Ketrin. Lawyer Varajic sends his enforcer, Batric, who threatens Boris in order to take over his cafe. Lakota recognizes the lawyer Labud Varajic in the yard because he knows him from Kotor, which strengthens Milina’s suspicions that Lakota is involved in the conspiracy to sell their apartments.

Sorcerer Jablan Supica, at Jagoda’s suggestion, comes to the yard of Crown Street 11 and skillfully scares each tenant one by one, warning them of paranormal events in the building. Visnja accuses Lakota of pressuring them to sell their apartments, while he suspects that Mestan is behind it. Vladimir is unhappy because Ketrin confesses that she doesn’t want to have children.

Lakota begins to doubt everything happening around the Turkish cemetery and the paranormal occurrences. Vladimir and Ketrin are in a serious fight. Jablan is overjoyed by the success of his paranormal tricks and continues to scare the building’s residents. Meanwhile, Boris visits Varajic to negotiate the sale of the cafe.

The residents of Crown Street 11 are completely shaken by the paranormal sounds and decide to sell their apartments. Sava makes an agreement with Julija to sell their apartment, but worries about how Zika will handle it. Lakota is thrilled with the video that Ketrin has prepared. Jagoda visits Varajic to collect her reward for a “well done job.”

Milina calls a meeting of the Building Council and invites all the residents to discuss the strange happenings in the building, as well as who is staying and who is leaving Crown Street 11. Zivojin falls ill, and an ambulance takes him to the hospital. Lakota and Visnja begin to grow closer.

Zivojin is successfully operated on and is out of danger. Vladimir and Ketrin reconcile, realizing they can’t live without each other. Lakota visits lawyer Varajic and invites him to a tavern, hoping to extract information about who is actually behind the purchase of apartments in Crown Street 11.

Under the influence of alcohol, lawyer Varajic confesses that he, along with the Turk Mestan, orchestrated a plan to take over the building in Crown Street 11. Lakota warns the residents not to sign anything, as it’s part of a conspiracy. Visnja regrets ever doubting Lakota. Dzelatovic is still unaware that their dirty deeds have been uncovered, but soon realizes what’s going on and informs lawyer Varajic. In Crown Stret 11, Milina’s portraits of the residents are displayed, reminding everyone of the power of unity and love.
