The Golden Corn Award for Best Debut Director was awarded to Hungarian director Lili Horvat for her film Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time, along with a cash prize of €1,000. Jury member Staša Koprivica praised the film as an unusual and exciting take on love, noting that in a time when fresh love stories seem impossible, Horvat has created an intimate and suspenseful narrative. The film was recognized for its meticulous visual storytelling, perfect rhythm and pacing, subtle yet powerful acting, and a touch of dark humor, capturing the painful yearning that makes us feel alive.
The Golden Corn Award for Best Film, with a prize of €1,500, was awarded to “Lihvar” by director Nemanja Ćeranić. The jury stated: “Lihvar is a carefully crafted and precisely written film, bravely acted, and seamlessly blending professional actors with non-professionals. Despite its modest production resources, the film offers conceptual richness in a genre rarely explored in Serbian cinema. This is not just the best film of this festival; it is among the best films in Serbia and beyond.”
The Golden Corn Award for Best Debut Film by Audience Choice, with a prize of €500, was given to “Jedini izlaz”, with the award accepted by producer Marko Stanković. The jury noted: “This film delivers excitement and raises important social questions. As the protagonist navigates a mystery and personal turmoil, the audience is compelled to reflect on broader societal issues while enjoying thrilling performances and twists. This is a film watched in a single breath, leaving no doubt about its deserved recognition.”
The Golden Corn for Best Documentary Film, with a prize of €500, was awarded to Maja Novaković for “Then Comes the Evening,” marking its 41st award to date. Jury president Dejan Petrović remarked: “This film, portraying an elderly woman conversing with nature, leaves one speechless. Through poetic minimalism and striking metaphors, the film explores the impermanence of life. Everything is simplified, yet deeply meaningful, emotionally touching, and thought-provoking.”
The Special Award in the ‘Short 100 Minutes’ Category went to the Polish film “Tell Me More” by Martina Paško. The jury commented: “Throughout the film, I felt tenderness, warmth, honesty, and deep emotional connection with the characters. The longing for spoken words and human connection resonated profoundly.”
The Plaketa Prvi Metar for Best Youth Film, with a prize of €300, was awarded to “Everything Is Fine” by Ružica Anja Tadić, recognized for its precise directorial approach and strong regional production collaboration.
Festival founder Lazar Ristovski announced the start of construction on a new Cultural Center and confirmed the festival’s continuation next year. The closing film of the festival was “Jedini izlaz” by Darko Nikolić.
